Save Ellis Island Free Virtual Event July 14th

Our Declaration of Independence proclaims: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

Many of our ancestors fled foreign shores, sailing to Ellis Island as their entry point to a new world in earnest pursuit of these rights. However, the rigorous inspections at Ellis Island did not guarantee entry in the U.S. The “Isle of hope, Isle of tears” and the great city of New York—were rarely the havens imagined, especially for vulnerable women.

Join Susan Meissner and me Thursday, July 14 @ 7PM for Save Ellis Island’s Virtual Author Series as we discuss my book, BAND OF SISTERS. Once you register a Zoom link will be sent the day of the free event.

All proceeds from optional sales of Band of Sisters will go to support Save Ellis Island’s mission to restore the 29 buildings in the Historic Hospital Complex.

Maureen O’Reilly and her younger sister flee Ireland in hope of claiming the life promised to their father over twenty years before. My mother in law has been gifted by all of your books for Mother’s Day and birthdays😀. I have some Irish ancestors in my background as well, so I completely understand the appeal for you in finding books that feature the Irish and Ireland.
