Dear Friend,
Exciting News! Introducing the cover to my newest novel, Every Given Day, to be released September 8, 2026!

Meet Gwen (Gwendolyn) Armstrong and Dr. Malcolm McNeill.
I walked with and loved this story for very personal reasons for a long while. I’m excited to share a summary of the story (the back cover copy) with you:
Inspired by true events, Christy Hall of Fame author Cathy Gohlke delivers a powerful new historical novel weaving together the discovery of insulin—a breakthrough that revolutionized modern medicine—and one woman’s brave fight to cling to her family and hope against unspeakable odds.
New York City, 1918. When schoolteacher Gwendolyn Armstrong learns of her sister’s worsening illness, she travels to Marion’s stately home to tutor her young niece and nephew, kept from school by the Spanish flu outbreak. Though the family lives in luxury, Gwen is wary of Marion’s sophisticated often-absent husband, Russell, who once cast Gwen aside for her sister, leaving wounds that never fully healed.
As Marion’s health declines, a sense of foreboding settles over the family. Gwen observes strangers coming and going from Russell’s study at all hours, and her lingering distrust turns to suspicion that he is hiding something that could threaten the family’s safety and security. But when the deadly flu claims victims among the family and mansion staff, Gwen and her nephew, Alistair are forced to accept terrible losses followed by—soon after—his own fatal diagnosis of juvenile diabetes.
When a compassionate doctor becomes both an advocate and friend, chasing down every promising development in the race for a cure for diabetes Gwen clings to each shred of hope. But as Russell’s clandestine dealings erupt into a shattering revelation, she must summon every ounce of courage she possesses. With Alistair’s life hanging in the balance, Gwen pleads for a faith she doesn’t yet possess, realizing she must surrender him to God and the possibility of a miracle that could save him and reshape her future in ways she never imagined.

Writing News:
Last month I shared that Tyndale House Publishers has offered me a new book contract. Let me amend that news–make that a 2-book contract! I’m thrilled to know I’ll be writing and working with Tyndale House Publishers for some time to come and will have more stories to bring to you.
I’m already deep into the writing of the first book and am loving the characters and their dilemmas. It’s a new topic and setting for me, and I’m learning so much from my research.
A Question For You:
I’m always curious to know what my readers most enjoy. If you could read a story set in any historical time period, which time period or event would you choose? I’d love to know!
What I’m Reading:

The Filling Station, by Vanessa Miller (Please link the title to her paperback on Amazon)
A USA TODAY Bestseller
A Library Journal Best Books of 2025 Pick
A Booklist Editors’ Choice Pick for 2025
New York Times Bestselling Author Jodi Picoult said it best: “Through the eyes of two sisters who suffered catastrophic loss, we viscerally learn how this vibrant Black Community fought devastation with resilience, faith, and grit.”
I’ve long thought the Tulsa Race Riots of the Greenwood District could be well portrayed through inspirational, motivational fiction, but I knew I was not qualified to write this story. At last—a book that does the resilience born of this tragedy justice. Vanessa Miller’s story carries a wealth of insight into what it means to be crushed, undermined, cruelly disenfranchised, terror stricken, and in the midst of heartache and loss to still reach for faith and rise from the ashes. Thank you, Vanessa Miller. So very well done!—Cathy Gohlke
What I’m About to Read:

Draw Close to Jesus—40 Encounters with the Savior for the Sacred Season of Lent, by Heidi Chiavaroli (Please link this title to the hardcover copy on Amazon)
I love discovering a special book written to lead me closer to Jesus through His journey to the cross and resurrection each year. Award-winning Novelist Heidi Chiavaroli promises to do just that through imaginative storytelling of Biblical characters’ encounters with Jesus. I’m looking forward to stepping back in time and walking alongside our Lord Jesus through the pages of this book.
Until next time,
Happy Reading, and God’s great blessings for you,
Cathy
