Opening Day

I pour my first cup of coffee—fragrant and strong—and smile as I open this beautiful new website. Today I enter my first Journal Notes from Laurelea.

I’m new to blogging, but eager to make new friends. I’ll be right here on Fridays, strolling through my garden or sitting by the fire, a steaming mug of joe or piping hot cup of tea in hand—one for each of us. Please join me. I’d love to sit and chat about books, research discoveries, writing projects, our faith walks—whatever is new in your world or mine.

Promise Me This released through Tyndale House Publishers in February. Written and offered with thanksgiving, the story and its themes are a picture of Christ’s love story to the world—His gift by grace that forever changed and made possible all that we are and hope to be.

In the weeks ahead I’ll share nuggets from my research of Titanic through WWI, and insights gleaned during the writing process that helped shape the story.

Is there something particular that you’d like to know about my research or how I wrote the book? If so, please leave a question or comment in the Comments box. I’ll gladly answer here or in the weeks ahead.

From the list of Comments I’ll draw one name in the next two weeks for a signed copy of Promise Me This.

Looking forward to meeting you in the garden!

God’s blessings,

    1. Thanks so much, Cynthia! Kelli Standish and all at PulsePoint Design did a wonderful job in creating this site. I feel like I’m exploring all the decorated rooms in a new house!
I look forward to meeting you here~Blessings!

  1. Look at you! I remember having dinner with you a couple of years ago and talking websites. Now look at you! Great site. Happy blogging. And the new book sounds great, too!

    1. So good to “meet” you again here, Lisa! I DO remember meeting you, and have been enjoying your blog posts over the years. I’m looking forward to reading your next book!

  2. Cathy!

    The website is beautiful!

This morning I finished Promise Me This, and I wish I was with you and Carrie so we could talk about it. Honestly, I almost called you in the middle of the night I was so upset with one scene, but since reading the last page I can see just how brilliant you are!

Exquisitely written. For someone who is not a fan of historical fiction you drew me in on page one!

Have a great time in Philly today. Wish I was there.

    Love you!
    Terri

    1. Carrie and I missed you in Philly, Terri! The Library Show was fantastic and huge! I signed 144 copies of “Promise Me This” for wonderful librarians–and then we braved The Reading Market for lunch–at noon, no less. Quite an experience.

Didn’t Kelli Standish do a wonderful job on this website? I’m thrilled, thrilled, thrilled!!!

I’m so glad you made it to the last page of “Promise Me This” without throwing the book out the window–delighted the story drew you in.
      Blessings, my friend!

  3. Hi Cathy, thanks for the lovely visit. I always feel so at home with you!

I signed up to receive the blog posts. I fill in my name and email. I received an email to confirm it. I clicked the link and it finishes the process and takes me back to your website to tell me I am all signed up. Very nice and professional.

    Thanks for all your encouragement!!

    Blessings,
    Carrie

    1. I so enjoyed your visit, Carrie! I’m delighted that you were able to dig in and accomplish some great research in addition to our jaunt to the Public Library Show in Philly.

I had a great website training session with Kelli Standish and Matt Jones this afternoon, and will work on my next blog post this weekend. What fun to work through this lovely new home on the web!

      Blessings on your weekend!

  4. I just had to cheat!!!!!

I got to the part where the war began and dreaded a turn for the worst thanks to a u-boat. I did the unthinkable and read the last page. It helped get me through the rest of the story. The twists and turns, the suspense was almost too much even knowing the end. What a great story!! The characters are so vividly colorful. So amazing. Eleanor is the perfect brilliant villain.
Thank you so much for the entertainment!!!!
    Jessica

    1. Ouch! Read the last page first???? To tell the truth, I’ve been hearing that from a few readers. : )

So glad you enjoyed “Promise Me This,” Jessica. Thank you for writing! The encouragement is truly appreciated.

“Band of Sisters” will release in September. I dare you to wait to read the last page until the end! : )

      Blessings to you!
